5 Writing Exercises for Freelance Writers

Full-time freelance writers usually write for more than eight hours a day. Part-timers usually write for two or more hours per day. Whatever the case may be, writing exercises are a great way to keep your writing skills and ideas fresh. They stimulate the mind and you get to ‘tap into’ your creative side. Doing writing exercises every day or at least every other day can help you unwind from a long day of writing. There’s no deadline and you can take your time. You can start and stop anytime you want without having to worry about turning in copy on time!

Studies have shown that exercising the mind is good way to keep your brain healthy. Remember, if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it! Writers may think they exercise their mind enough since they write; however, doing writing exercises will enhance your writing skills because you’ll be forced to think about something other than your current projects. It’s another way to push you out of your comfort zone and stretch yourself as a writer.
